Specimen Type/Requirements
Red top (Swab in 3 mL Universal Viral Transport Media) tube - Dermal, Genital
Leave swab in media.
Sterile Container
Use only swabs with a synthetic tip (e.g Dacron, Rayon or Nylon) and an aluminum or plastic shaft.
Do NOT use calcium alginate swabs as they may contain substances that interfere with PCR testing.
Only one specimen will be necessary for the detection of either virus.
