Fetal Fibronectin assay is a qualitative test to aid in identifying risks for premature delivery.
Specimen Type/Requirements
Fetal Fibronectin Kit - Fetal Fibronectin Swab Immersed in Buffer
Collection Instructions:
- During sterile speculum exam, lightly rotate swab across posterior fornix of the vagina or the ectocervical region of the external cervical os for 10 seconds to absorb cervicovaginal secretions. Do this prior to any other examination or manipulation.
- Remove swab and immerse in buffer. Break the shaft of the swab at the score line. Align the shaft with the hole inside the cap and push down sealing the tube. The shaft must be aligned to prevent leakage.
- Label the tube with patient name and date of birth.
- Refrigerate tube at 2-8° Celsius (stable 3 days).
Moderately to grossly bloody specimens are unacceptable.
Test is affected by hemolysis. Test is not affected by lipemia.
