Test ID MICR0009 Culture Bacterial, Anaerobe

Important Note

NOTE:  Specimens not acceptable for anaerobic culture:  Throat swab, Nasopharyngeal swab and Washings, Sputum-expectorated or induced, Tracheal aspirate/Endotracheal aspirate, Bronchial washings, BAL (unless collected using a protected or double lumen catheter), Urine-other than suprapubic aspirate, Vaginal or Cervical swabs, Superficial skin material, Ear swabs-superficial or drainage, Eye swabs-superficial or drainage, Mouth swabs, Catheter tips, Feces/Stool/Rectal swabs, Specimens from sites contaminated with intestinal contents such as colostomy sites, draining pilonidal sinus, and traumatic perforation of the bowel.

If IUD source - also order MICR0005 Culture, Screen for Single Pathogen and specify 'Actinomyces'
