Specimen Type/Requirements

Lavender top (EDTA) tube - Whole Blood 

and

Blue top (Sodium Citrate) tube - Plasma, Double Spun Platelet Poor (8-9 separate frozen aliquots)

Note:  EDTA tubes that have been aliquoted or pierced with instrumentation probes will not be accepted.  Patients receiving heparin therapy should discontinue medication for 2 days before testing.

 

Test is affected by hemolysis and lipemia.

 Preferred Volume     4.0 mL    
 Minimum Volume     200 uL   

Sodium Citrate Plasma (8-9 frozen aliquots):

 Preferred Volume     10.0 mL (2 - 2.0 mL aliquots and 6 - 1.0 mL aliquots)   
 Minimum Volume     6.0 mL (3 - 1.0 mL aliquots and 6 - 0.5 mL aliquots)

Test includes:Cardiolipin IgG Antibody, Cardiolipin IgM Antibody, Pt G20210A Gene Mutation, Factor V (5) Leiden Mutation Analysis, D-Dimer Quantitative, Fibrinogen, Protime, PTT, Beta 2 Glycoprotein I IgG and Beta 2 Glycoprotein 1 IgM.
