Specimen Type/Requirements
Lavender top (EDTA) tube - Plasma
Gold top (Serum w/gel) tube - Serum
Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum
Freeze 2 aliquots (0.5 mL plasma/serum each). Plasma/Serum must be separated from cells within 24 hours of collection and frozen immediately.
Ship overnight on dry ice to be received into Cincinnati Children's lab Monday through Friday. Specimens cannot be received on weekends or holidays.
Interfering substances: Basiliximab binds with the IL-2R in vivo. Results for patients on basiliximab reflect the unbound portion of SIL2R in the plasma sample.
Test is not affected by hemolysis or lipemia.
