Green Cap Para-Pak Enteric Plus (Cary Blair Transport Media) - Stool (Refer to Stool Collection Patient Instruction link below)
Red Cap Enteric Transport Medium (ETM) - Stool (Refer to Stool Collection Patient Instruction link below)
Sterile Container - Stool (only stable 2 hours refrigerated)
Note: Stool that is not in transport media and is received greater than 2 hours after collection may be detrimental to the recovery of Shigella spp.

*Refrigerated Cary Blair samples should be processed within 24 hours for best recovery of pathogens. However, 72 hours is compatible with other stool testing if using one specimen for multiple tests.

Additional Information
Test includes: Salmonella spp, Shigella spp, Campylobacter spp, Verocytotoxin-producing Escherichia coli (VTEC- E. coli O157), Aeromonas spp, Plesiomonas shigelloides, Vibrio cholera and other Vibrio spp.
If stool is positive for E. coli O157, then H7 typing will be performed.
Identification, typing, and/or sensitivity testing will be performed if indicated at an additional fee (per organism).
NOTE: Follow-up cultures on previous positive patients should be ordered as Culture Bacterial, Stool Single Pathogen Screen (MICR0002).
