Test ID BLOD1150 Pregnenolone, Serum

Important Note

Note:  This test has FROZEN stability only.

1. Serum gel tubes should be centrifuged within 2 hours of collection.

2. Red-top tubes should be centrifuged, and the serum aliquoted into a plastic vial within 2 hours of collection.

Effective 8/9/2024:  Due to instruments reaching maximum specimen capacity, results will be delayed. Testing will still be performed at an extended turnaround time. An update will be provided when normal testing resumes.

Useful For

An ancillary test for congenital adrenal hyperplasia, particularly in situations in which a diagnosis of both 21- and 11-hydroxylase deficiency have been ruled out

Confirming a diagnosis of 3-beta-hydroxy dehydrogenase deficiency
