Specimen Type/Requirements

Sterile Container - Sputum, Expectorated or Induced

 

If unable to obtain adequate specimen amount, combine 3-6 specimens and submit total amount in one container.  Combined specimens need to be collected within a 24 hour time period.

 

Only sputum samples on adults (>18 years old) are acceptable.

 

Test is not affected by hemolysis or lipemia.
