Useful For
Aids in determination of lymphomas, leukemias and myeloma.
Specimen Type/Requirements
Lavender top (EDTA) tube - Whole Blood
Green top (Sodium Heparin w/out gel) tube - Bone Marrow Aspirate
Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF)
For Whole Blood samples:
- Perform WBC within 6 hours of drawing the specimen and send the results with the samples.
- Freshly prepared blood smear (stained or unstained) is also recommended.
- Lithium Heparin is not acceptable.
- Test is affected by gross hemolysis.
ALL Specimen types: Provide reason for test and include patient history.
