Test ID LBOR0151 Flow Cytometry

Important Note

Send to be received at Sanford Sioux Falls Monday through Thursday ONLY. (cut-off for test setup is noon on Friday).

Do NOT send to arrive at Sanford Sioux Falls on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays as no flow testing is performed on those days.

Useful For

Aids in determination of lymphomas, leukemias and myeloma.

Specimen Type/Requirements

Lavender top (EDTA) tube - Whole Blood 

Green top (Sodium Heparin w/out gel) tube - Bone Marrow Aspirate 

Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) 

 

For Whole Blood samples:

  1. Perform WBC within 6 hours of drawing the specimen and send the results with the samples.
  2. Freshly prepared blood smear (stained or unstained) is also recommended.
  3. Lithium Heparin is not acceptable. 
  4. Test is affected by gross hemolysis. 

 

ALL Specimen types:  Provide reason for test and include patient history.
