Specimen Type/Requirements
Red (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum (preferred)
Lavender (EDTA) tube - plasma
Collect serum/plasma and aliquot into 2 separate transport tubes, with 1 mL serum/plasma (0.7 mL minimum) in each transport tube. Specify time of day specimen was collected.
Do not use gel barrier or serum separator tubes.
Affected by hemolysis but not by lipemia.
