Gold top (Serum w/gel) tube - Serum (preferred)
Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum (preferred)
Light Green top (Lithium Heparin w/gel) tube - Plasma
Specimen should be protected from light. Prompt separation of serum/plasma from cells is essential.
Fasting is preferred.
Test is affected by hemolysis and lipemia.
