Specimen Type/Requirements

Pink top (EDTA) tube - Whole Blood (preferred)

Lavender top (EDTA) tube - Whole Blood

 

Testing within 48 hours of collection is recommended, but specimens may be tested up to 72 hours if refrigerated. Testing specimens older than 10 days should be avoided unless there are no other alternatives.  Antibody reactivity decreases in older specimens.  Specimens that exhibit gross hemolysis or contamination should not be used.

Test is affected by hemolysis.  Test is not affected by lipemia.
