Useful For

This test is very effective in identifying aspirin or aspirin-like effect and has increased sensitivity in identifying true platelet disorders.

Specimen Type/Requirements

2 Blue top (Sodium Citrate) tubes - Whole Blood

 

The 3.2% Sodium Citrate tubes must be filled to appropriate volume to acquire the 9:1 blood to anticoagulant ratio critical for valid results.

 

Test is affected by hemolysis.  Test is not affected by lipemia.

 Preferred Volume     5.4 mL (2 - 2.7 mL tubes)  
 Minimum Volume     3.6 mL (2 - 1.8 mL tubes)
