Test may be affected by gross hemolysis, gross icterus and gross lipemia.  Specimen should be centrifuged and aliquoted within 2 hours of collection.

Results are reported as Non-reactive or Presumptive evidence of HIV Antigen or Antibodies: Please see Antibody Differentiation or HIV 1 Qualitative NAT for confirmation.


Presumptive results for HIV-1 and HIV-2 will automatically be reflexed for antibody differentiation  at an additional fee.

 

When the HIV-1 and HIV-2 differentiation are both negative or indeterminate, the HIV-1 RNA Qualitative NAT (BLOD1558) will  also be performed at an additional fee to confirm the presence of HIV antigen.
