Blue top (Sodium Citrate) tube - Plasma, Double Spun Platelet Poor

The 3.2% Sodium Citrate tube must be filled to appropriate volume to acquire the 9:1 blood to anticoagulant ratio that is critical for valid results.

 

Do not store in a frost-free freezer.  Do not test specimens that have gone through freeze/thaw cycles.

 

Test is not affected by hemolysis or lipemia.

Additional Information

Abnormal results can be obtained in patients on anticoagulant therapy, including the newer agents (e.g. rivaroxaban, apixaban, etc.). This can result in false interpretation of lupus inhibitor.
