Gold top (Serum w/gel) tube - Serum (preferred for Sanford Rapid
City)
Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum
Give 50 gm oral glucose load and draw pt 1 hour
later. Patient does not have to
fast; can be done any time of day. Prompt separation from
cells is essential.
Test is affected by gross hemolysis. Test is not affected by lipemia.
