Gold top (Serum w/gel) tube - Serum

Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum

Heparinized Plasma is not acceptable.

Note:  Specimen collection within the first 3 hours of normal waking time is recommended for cisgender males being assessed for hypogonadism; this will be a morning collection for most patients.  A morning collection is not required as there are many considerations for the timing of specimen collection (i.e., shift workers, monitoring therapy, etc.).

Test is affected by gross hemolysis and moderate lipemia.
