Light Green top (Lithium Heparin w/gel) tube - Plasma (Preferred)

Gold top (Serum w/gel) tube - Serum 

Red top (Serum w/out gel) tube - Serum 
 

Test may be affected by gross hemolysis, gross icterus and gross lipemia.

Specimen should be centrifuged and aliquoted within 2 hours of collection.

Additional Information

The Abbott Architect two step prolactin assay does not exhibit a high dose hook effect with samples that have concentrations of prolactin greater than 10,000 ng/mL.
