Specimen Type/Requirements

Lavender top (EDTA) tube -  Plasma 

and

Lavender top (EDTA) tube -  Whole Blood

 

BOTH Plasma and Whole blood are needed for this test. 

 

Draw two or three EDTA tubes (depending on volume of tubes).

Spin one tube to separate plasma and pipette plasma into aliquot tube.

Send one or two tubes of EDTA whole blood unspun.

 

Affected by hemolysis and lipemia.
